Mobile tennis app for practice tracking and statistics.
Tennis players need a way to efficiently practice on their own time and be able to track their progress. Hiring a traditional coach is a big monetary investment and also requires a set schedule in which both the coach and the player must be available for practice.
A self-tracking Tennis App paired with a sensor tool on the racket will enable the tennis player to set their own practice time and parameters. The app must be able to accommodate the skill range of an amateur to veteran tennis player and provide accurate data so that each player knows what to improve and focus on during play.
We cycled through this design thinking process, our approach was to create an interactive mobile app that was suitable for most children or adults (10-40 years old) learning tennis.

After gathering data from 10 Tennis player interviews, we decided the most efficient way to organize the top needs of the tennis players was to split the practice into 4 main sections; the player's technique, overall progress, specific motivation, and new lessons. From this point on we theorized and started implementing ideas on how the player would best utilize the app to meet these needs.
Each section of the app focuses on a specific part of a practice session and the player would be able to navigate to each page to view different statistics and information of each of their sessions.
When the app launches and the user logs in, they will be land on the homepage where their total stats from the current practice week will be compiled and presented. Their profile screen also relays their best performing stats of every session they had completed so far.
This screen relays the data from the sensor on the tennis racket and gives the user real time results and stats on each stroke they are practicing. The user also has the option to switch to different practice strokes during the session.
After the user is complete with their practice session, all the data from that session will be compiled and available to view in the history screen. Each session is recorded and saved so that the user can revisit any practice stats.
Perfect for new or intermediate tennis players, the lessons screen is comprised up of various tennis tutorial videos, led by professional Wilson-sponsored tennis players.
1. Having a video/camera recording feature on the app would lead to more accurate practice data available to the user.
2. Include an award system so that users are motivated to meet the goals set on the app and feel more rewarded when reached.
3. Link social media and geo-location features utilizing APIs so that users can have access to post their achievements and also have practice meet ups with fellow, nearby users.
